The Pirin Mountains offer 3 ski resorts
- Bulgaria's already established premier resort of Bansko,
and the newly developing resorts of Kulinoto and
Dobrinishte. The Ski resorts are predominantly Alpine in
character and with recent investment, now boast modern facilities and lifts.
With abundant snow falls providing a constant winter snow cover up to 2m
thick and a ski season that runs mid December to mid April the region
experiences excellent ski conditions.
In the past 3 years investment in ski facilities for Bansko
has been over
€80 million with
another €100 million planned over the next 3 years.
Both Kulinoto and
Dobrinishte have also recently received foreign investment
for the construction of new gondola and chair lifts and
expansion of the ski areas, with long term plans to link
the ski areas of all three resorts together.
Bansko itself is situated 160 km south of Sofia, and is based at the North-eastern bottom of the Pirin mountain range. It has a population of 9,000 and Sofia is the nearest airport to the resort with a transfer time of approximately
2 hours.
In spring and summer, Bansko becomes a beautiful,
cool and refreshing outdoor activities mountain resort. Surrounded by
the Pirin, Rila and Rhodope Mountains, the region is ideal for a wide range
of outdoor activities including mountain biking, hiking, horse riding,
climbing and river rafting to name just a few.

Snow cannons - 60 snow cannons covering over 50% of ski runs.
Bansko offers its guests a unique 16km uninterrupted ski run, starting from Todorka Peak (2600 m) at the highest point of the ski center, all the way to the base station of the Gondola lift at the outskirts of town.
The last 7 km of the slope are lit at dusk, and the entire facility is equipped with artificial snow machines to ensure a great skiing experience even in warmer conditions.
